Pluggable installations for St. Jans Gasthuis in Weert
Project
For this new-build project, BAM Bouw en Techniek is constructing a compact, future-proof hospital building of 20,000 m². The design focuses on efficient use of space, clarity, and flexibility to accommodate growth or downsizing. The electrical installations, from lighting to medical connections, are largely pluggable to ensure completion within the tight one-year schedule. Isolectra supplied 219 fully prefabricated MediBoxes, contributing to safe and rapid installation in G0 and G1 rooms.
Smart Healthcare Technology
The MediBoxes are equipped with clear labels and smart connectors, enabling installers to easily link bedhead panels, medical equipment, and grounding. Each box includes provisions for medical equipotential bonding via a double 2.5 mm² conductor, a unique solution in the market. Thanks to this approach, installation is up to 40% faster, with a pace of four rooms per day. In addition to delivery, Isolectra handled the design of standard rooms, testing, a demonstration, and an on-site toolbox meeting.

Future-Oriented Solution
The pluggable installation is not only efficient but also scalable. Solutions are now available for G2 rooms as well, making the concept even more versatile for hospital projects. The project will be completed in mid-2024, after which Phase 2 will follow with an extension at the rear of the hospital. Isolectra’s universal pluggable healthcare concept thus provides a solid foundation for the hospitals of the future.
