Plug-in flat cables meet students’ power needs

Assignment

At Cambridgelaan in Utrecht, SSH realised High Five, a student housing complex with 921 residential units. The project focused strongly on prefabrication and efficiency. For the electrical power infrastructure, a fast and efficient installation method was therefore required.

Solution

The Wieland podis^® flat cable system from Isolectra was selected for the power supply. One flat cable was installed vertically through each shaft, with a tap-off to the distribution boards on every floor. Isolectra supplied the cable assemblies prepared for the project, cut to length, pre-stripped and fitted with a connection box. Thanks to the plug-in connections, installers could connect the cabling quickly and easily.

Result

The use of Wieland podis^® created an efficient and well-organised power distribution system. Because multiple floors could be supplied via a single flat cable, fewer individual power cables were required. This reduced installation work and saved valuable time on site.

The clear coding made connections immediately recognisable, contributing to fast and error-free installation. The Wieland podis^® 5x25 mm² flat cable provided sufficient capacity for the student residences.

The solution therefore fitted perfectly with High Five’s prefabricated construction method and resulted in a safe, flexible and reliable installation.
