Pluggable installation in concrete

Is that possible? Yes! With the Wieland RST^® system, Isolectra now also offers the option of pluggable installations in concrete. This opens up some very interesting options for both prefab concrete and cast concrete projects. Just imagine: plug-and-play concrete walls and floors with pre-installed electrical systems.

Certified connectors and cables
In recent years, several installation companies have asked us whether it would be possible to develop a pluggable installation system that can be used in concrete--more specifically, one that could be cast in concrete. This would allow the concrete construction sector to also enjoy the major advantages of pluggable installation: Faster installation, higher quality, more prefabrication, fewer on-site activities and better planning at the construction site.

Isolectra went to work to tackle this challenge: At Isolectra's request, Wieland had the robust and IP69 waterproof RST20^® system rigorously tested and certified for use in concrete. It was a major success. This means it is now possible to cast the RST20^® plug connectors entirely in concrete!
Isolectra also had special concrete cables developed. One cable is suitable for use in prefab concrete construction, while another - even more robust - cable is suitable for use in on-site cast concrete construction, such as tunnels.

Prefab concrete
With the RST20^® prefab concrete cables, it is possible to add pluggable installations to prefab concrete floors and walls. The installation technician designs the installation’s engineering and supplies the RST20^® cables, RST20^® distributors and Isolectra's prefabricated wall outlets and junction boxes with RST20^® cables to the wall or floor manufacturer. These components are then cast into the wall or floor at the factory. At the construction site, the walls and floors can easily be connected in a pluggable manner by the installation technician, thereby significantly reducing the amount of work to be done at the construction site and the risk of failure.

Structural concrete
With the RST20^® structural cable, it is possible to utilise ready-to-use cables, distributors and junction boxes in the tunnel building sector as well. These are mounted on the rebar before the concrete is cast. The benefits of this approach are that the process can be completed twice as fast, the logistics of transporting components to the construction site are greatly simplified and the system is ready immediately after assembly.

To elevate the installation to the highest possible level, Isolectra's consultants and account managers offer maximum support. Both standard and made-to-measure Wieland pluggable switch materials, distributors and junction boxes are available with the RST20^® system.
