The need for charging stations is growing

The Dutch electric vehicle fleet is growing by about 100 cars every day. The first electric cars were mainly used by business drivers, but now that private drivers are increasingly buying electric cars, their charging needs are changing. The car is often at the charging station for much longer and can therefore be charged more intelligently.

Isolectra Pluggable Installation

The need for charging stations is increasing. Charging from roadside charging stations is an option, but availability is limited. After requesting a home-based charging station, it takes an average of 6 months before it is installed. Additionally, roadside rates are easily 1.5 times higher than when using a domestic connection. When generating energy with your own solar panels, you can achieve an even higher return. That is why for many electric drivers, a private charging station is definitely an excellent option. For electric drivers living in a flat, the installation of a private charging station was a problem until recently.

Wieland Electric’s podis® flat cable system offers an innovative and decentralised solution for supplying energy to electric-vehicle charging stations. With decentralised power-supply technology, charging stations are easily and quickly supplied with energy, with considerably less effort and material consumption compared to a conventional system.

The podis® flat cable system is ideal for distributing power to charging stations in car parks. With this decentralised energy distribution system, a large number of charging stations can be connected to just one supply line. This saves time during installation, reduces the amount of material required and significantly reduces the dimensions of the splitter box. Not all charging stations will deliver the maximum charging capacity at the same time. Through intelligent coupling of the connected charging stations, the power supply is never overloaded.

Isolectra Pluggable Installation

The system consists of a flat cable that is installed in the car park. A branch connection and a charging station are only installed where a charging station is needed. In other places, they can be quickly added later. The power supply branch modules can be added at any time and anywhere. This also makes it possible to expand the system easily and without high cost. A special feature is that these branch modules are available both for fixed installations and pluggable versions. This offers many advantages when a charging station needs to be replaced.

The podis® branch modules for the energy splitting can be placed at any point on the podis® flat cable. The fast and flexible positioning of the podis® branch modules is made possible by the piercing contacts. Conventional time-consuming things like cutting, stripping, connecting and isolating are no longer an issue. Cable trays are not required either.
In short, the podis® flat cable system offers a great solution to the shortage of charging stations. The system makes it possible to quickly and easily connect several charging stations at the same time.
