Successful introduction to plug & play Installation
Nestled in the beautiful forests of the Veluwe lies Mennorode Estate. Originally opened in 1925 as a Mennonite Brotherhood House, it has since grown into a hotel and conference center boasting 172 rooms and more than thirty meeting spaces. To offer guests an even more comfortable stay and create a unique experience, Mennorode is fully committed to modernization and sustainability, while preserving the estate’s authentic atmosphere and character.

The master plan, “Mennorode: A hundred years ahead”, focuses on future-proofing the complex. Recently, the first of four implementation phases was completed. This phase included façade renovation, the redesign of 22 rooms, and improved accessibility. Measures that enhance cohesion, improve guest comfort, and restore the connection with the surrounding landscape. While Van Dillen Bouw handled the structural work, Ponsioen Installatie Techniek carried out all electrical and mechanical installations with the goal of modernizing the hotel and making it all-electric in the future.

Innovative installation techniques
“The first phase was delivered just before the 2025 summer construction break and involved a wing with two floors and 22 hotel rooms,” explains Sander Goedhart, Project Manager at Ponsioen Installatie Techniek. “We installed new technologies. Electrical, hydraulic, and heating, so the system can later be connected to the new central heating and cooling system powered by heat pumps. By replacing the high-temperature heating system with a low-temperature system, we can achieve significant energy savings.”

Due to the repetitive nature of the work in the hotel rooms, plug & play technology was chosen for the electrical installations, Goedhart adds. “From the power cables to the sockets, lighting, and associated switching materials, enabling much faster and error-free installation.”

Excellent support
“We had some prior experience with plug & play installation,” says Goedhart. “However, because previous collaborations were not always smooth, we looked for an alternative supplier for the Mennorode Hotel & Conference Center project. We found that in Isolectra, the pioneer of plug & play installation in the Netherlands, with extensive knowledge and expertise. Our contact with Account Manager Saïd Omaaza and Innovation Manager Bran Jalink was very positive. We received excellent support during the quotation process, the plug & play design for the hotel rooms, and the deliveries.”

Due to evolving insights, the final delivery time was extremely short, Omaaza recalls. “No problem for Isolectra, as our systems are well-stocked at major wholesalers.” Goedhart adds: “Most of the order was delivered via Rexel, with a small portion managed in-house. Additionally, some installations were custom-assembled for the project.”

Complete engineering Support
Mennorode was Ponsioen Installatie Techniek’s first experience with Isolectra’s Wieland systems. Therefore, Isolectra took full responsibility for the engineering of the first phase. “Our initial contact was in december 2024,” Omaaza explains. “At that time, conventional installation drawings were already available, which we converted into a plug & play concept, including a detailed overview of all required components, quantities, and cable lengths. Based on this, Ponsioen Installatie Techniek could order exactly the right products.”

Joint project kick-off
“At the start of execution, Bran Jalink supervised the installation of the first room and shared some tips and tricks, enabling the remaining 21 rooms to be installed quickly and efficiently,” says Goedhart. “We didn’t have to reinvent the wheel.”

Ponsioen Installatie Techniek plans to use Isolectra’s Wieland systems for the next phases as well. “Since these phases have a slightly longer lead time, we can benefit from an additional Isolectra service: delivering all systems pre-kitted per room. This will further increase installation speed.”
