Today: Smart investing in LED LIGHTING
Last year, we visited a tomato grower who has been using HPS lighting for years. The grower was very satisfied with this system but wanted to switch (partially) to LED. ”LED lighting is being used more and more, and in the context of energy saving, I am very interested, but the investment scope is limited. However, switching within the investment margin is possible!
Hybrid lighting is one option.
Hang a number of LED lamps between the HPS lamps. Replace an HPS lamp for an LED lamp. (Figure 2). An HPS lamp often has a higher output than an LED lamp, so you can use the existing installation. To make the connection very easy, we have developed a converter together with Wieland. It is available in different versions so that your existing system does not require modification. The converter fits on the inlet of the existing connector and on the outlet of the connector of your desired LED lamp.
If you want to keep the HPS installation and install a number of extra LED lamps, the Y-Adapter is an excellent solution. (Figure 3). Check the total load on the fuse in advance and, if there is room, an additional LED lamp can be installed very easily. By using the Y-Adapter, the investment is very limited and a LED lamp can be added quickly and without error.
You connect the Y-Adapter to the existing connector with the splitter-connector. The existing HPS lamp and the LED lamp are connected to the 2 cables by pluggable connections.
Both solutions are ideal in this day and age. The investment is limited and you still find out if LED lighting contributes to the growth of your crop. If the results are good and there is some room to invest again, all the selected components can be included in a new installation.
Naturally, all Wieland solutions are IP 66/68(3m;2h)/IP69
That is what we call smart investment and innovation.
