Four new office buildings, a central plaza, two annexes and the renovation of an existing car park: at De Run 1000 in Veldhoven, a large business campus is being further expanded, in line with sustainability label BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and health and well-being label WELL Gold. Mansveld Techniek was involved by the principal at an early stage, working in a construction team with Hurks and Croonwolter&dros to realise the extensive project. The Eindhoven-based engineering specialist is responsible for all electrical installations. From the security technology and data installations to the lighting and power installations, which included Isolectra’s pluggable technology.

The new office buildings each have five floors. The buildings will be connected by walkways, creating one impressive and connected office complex with 4,000 workstations. Mansveld Techniek provides the advanced E-technologies for this. “In the field of safety & security, our services include fire alarm and evacuation systems, camera installations, magnetic contacts and other security technology”, explains René van den Biggelaar, Technical Project Leader at Mansveld Techniek. “We also provide the data installations in ceilings, floors and walls, all lighting and the earthing system. Moreover, we are responsible for power installations. From the transformer, we run with a large voltage rail to the main distribution boxes and all the sub-distributors. We also lay all cable routes and provide cabling for Ericsson and Vodafone’s antenna installation. Last-but-not-least, a Signify smart grid will be installed, which will also control the mechanical systems. In short: this project covers all our areas ofexpertise in detail.”

Power supply via floor duct
All new office floors will be equipped with a floor duct, connecting the power supplies for the 4,000 workstations using plug-and-play technology. “As the floor ducts will be permanently closed after only a few installation days, Mansveld Techniek sought a quick and flawless installation method”, explains Jordi Blanker, Account Manager Building Installation Technologies at Isolectra. “Our pluggable installation system fits this perfectly. Together with Mansveld Techniek, a great installation plan was set up, for which Isolectra provided the drawings package. Wholesaler Technische Unie is responsible for just-in-time deliveries, while Mansveld Techniek takes care of assembly and maintains a monitoring role.”

Wonderful three-way cooperation
“What is special about this project is that we have created a great three-way cooperation between supplier, customer and wholesaler,” Blanker stressed. “Together, we arrived at a really effective and efficient plan for the pluggable technologies.” Underlying this plan were a number of specific wishes and requirements, he says. “Thus, from the principal’s point of view, the highest quality systems had to be used. Additionally, watertight main distribution boxes had to be used, for which we made watertight connections to our pluggable system. Using the installation plan as the basis, we provided all pluggable materials with specific labels. This allows Mansveld Techniek’s fitters to see exactly which materials need to be connected at which locations. An installation kit was also developed for each office wing, cleverly clustering all materials for one office wing.” Van den Biggelaar: “Thanks to pluggable technologies, two mechanics from Mansveld Techniek can fit a complete floor in just a few days.”

Wieland GST18® and RST20®
The Wieland GST18® system combined with Wieland RST20® was chosen to power the workstations. That was a circular choice, as both systems were recently listed in the National Environmental Database with a Category 1 Environmental Statement. “The main components are our Wieland distribution boxes, combined with a wide range of bespoke coupling cables”, says Blanker. “Where there is a Wieland GST18® connector on one side, a Wieland RST20® connector is incorporated on the other side to ensure a waterproof connection.” The office buildings will be delivered in phases from week 6, 2024. By the fourth quarter of 2024, the new building should be fully completed.
