Pluggable electrical installations by Isolectra and Wieland offer solutions in every residential development project: from large to small, from traditional to prefabricated, and from dry to wet installation methods. In order to select the right installation for each project, a number of factors must be clarified during preparation.
Dry or wet installation?
Both dry and wet fitting methods are applied in residential development, says Casper Bontenbal, Marketing Manager of Isolectra. ”It goes without saying that the selection of pluggable installation materials must be adjusted accordingly. For dry fitting, the well-known IP40 Wieland GST18® system is the best solution. This system is flexible, readily available, fast and efficient. However, if pluggable electrical components are assembled under very wet conditions, an IP40 installation system is not suitable. Specifically for such situations, Isolectra supplies the IP66/68/69K RST20® system, guaranteeing optimal waterproofing and high-quality installation in all building conditions. This allows electrical contracters to experience the benefits of pluggable electrical installation in a wet fitting stage as well.”
Even for prefab concrete construction
Pluggable electrical installation in precast concrete construction is also possible with Wieland RST20®, stresses Bontenbal. This system is so robust and reliable that it is even certified to be poured directly into precast concrete walls and floors without sleeve tubes. What’s more, to take installation to the highest level, our consultants and account managers offer maximum support. electrical contracters can rely on our extensive electrical engineering knowledge as well as a wide range of structural solutions to connect installations in walls and floors in a smart and efficient way.”
Maintenance-free by design
For pluggable connections in inaccessible locations, it is particularly important that the connection is maintenance-free. Isolectra and Wieland’s pluggable electrical installations are a perfect match. The GST18®, GST15®, RST16® and RST20® systems, for instance, are designed and certified to be completely maintenance-free.
CPR and Building Decree
Since last year, new rules for cables are set out in the Building Decree. “Electrical contractersare well advised to always check which fire and smoke class applies to their cables”, recommends Bontenbal. ”In most cases, a Dca s2 classification applies to utility rooms, Dca s2 or B2ca s2 for protected escape routes and B2ca s1 for extra-protected escape routes. The Wieland GST18® cables are available in Dca s1, d2, a1 and B2ca s1, d1, a1, but also in Cca s1, d1, a1 and Eca. This means that all our cables fully comply with the latest requirements. So we offer a suitable solution for every pluggable requirement.”
