The right pluggable system for every project

With Wieland GST® and RST®, Isolectra offers a suitable pluggable installation system for all sectors, requirements and circumstances. “Both our GST and RST system series are certified according to NEN-EN-IEC 61535 and are maintenance-free. This means that pluggable systems may be used in a fixed installation”, explains Casper Bontenbal, Marketing Manager at Isolectra. “Also in non-accessible places. With Wieland GST® and RST®, for example, it is possible to make connections in a hollow wall, floor or ceiling. Both prefabricated and in situ. Moreover, RST® joints can be poured into precast concrete walls or screeds!” So when is it best to choose which system?

Findings for professionals
Thanks to the Wieland GST® and RST® installation systems, our scarce craftsmen can work even more efficiently. “Installers can fit as much as three to ten times faster, without sacrificing quality and reliability”, says Bontenbal. “Another unique aspect is the flexibility and sustainability of the systems.”

Sustainable and circular
“Pluggable installation with Wieland GST® and RST® is also unpluggable installation”, he emphasises. “It is easy to make any necessary modifications, which significantly extends the lifespan of the installations. At the end of a building’s life or in case of major changes, the pluggable technologies can simply be dismantled and – after extensive testing and certification – reused elsewhere.”

National Environmental Database
Recently, the Wieland GST® and RST® systems were listed in the National Environmental Database. Architects, consultants, installers and other stakeholders who prescribe and apply pluggable installation systems in their projects can use the data from the National Environmental Database to make effective product comparisons. But also to calculate and even lower the sustainability and environmental performance of their buildings. In agreement with Isolectra, it’s also possible to return Wieland GST® and RST® systems.

Dry indoor environments
That’s where the similarities end. So how exactly do you choose which system? According to Bontenbal, this decision is easy to make. ”Wieland GST® is specially designed for dry indoor environments. Such as hollow walls, floors, ceilings and furniture in residential and commercial construction. From new construction to renovation, transformation and modular (prefab) construction, where dry assembly, storage, transport and processing is essential.”

Wieland GST® is still the most widely used pluggable system in the world of Dutch installation systems, he states. “The indoor system is suitable for power ratings of 20 amps and stands out for its high quality and favourable price. Combined with excellent availability and a broad portfolio, these are important reasons to choose Wieland GST®.”

Wet and rugged environments
To also experience the benefits of pluggable installation in wet and demanding and rugged environments, Isolectra supplies the IP65/66/67/68/69 waterproof Wieland RST® system. The special cables and connectors of this system are so durable and reliable that they are the only ones in the market certified to be cast directly, without conduits, into precast concrete walls and concrete floors.

Wieland RST® is suitable for power ratings from 8 to 50 amps and, besides in precast concrete construction, is also widely used in EV charging systems. Other popular applications include greenhouse assimilation lighting, industrial lighting and LED light towers. And Wieland RST® has also become a familiar system in shipbuilding, naval construction and rail infrastructure. “For example, our certifications for ATEX (explosion protection), UL CSA (US standards for safety and performance) and Germanischer Lloyd, DNV and LR (shipping) are a major contribution to this.”

Uniform structure
The Wieland GST® and RST® installation systems are constructed in the same way, using the same type of components. “To minimise on-site handling, we supply ready-made cables. For both systems and in all conceivable shapes, sizes and lengths”, says Bontenbal. “Special splitter blocks and custom-made switching and electronics boxes complete both systems, with specific chassis parts mounted on lighting fixtures, sockets, switches, etc. guaranteeing a 100% pluggable system.”
